Welcome Reception and Dinner, Tuesday, May 13, 2008
A welcome reception for all conference participants and their accompanying persons will be held on Tuesday, May 13 from 7.00 p.m. on in the Students’ Dining Hall (“Mensa”). Drinks and some snacks will be served.
From 8.00 p.m. on we will have our Welcome Dinner which will be in the buffet style. Beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be served.
Our host throughout this evening is the Foster Wheeler company.
Riverboat Tour and Conference Dinner, Thursday, May 15, 2008
On the evening of Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 6.50 p.m. buses will depart in front of the lecture hall building for the “Dampfschiffsweg” pier in the harbour of Hamburg-Harburg where we are going to board the motor vessel “Hamburg”. We will then cruise through several harbour basins and on the river Elbe while we are enjoying our Conference Dinner which will be held in the buffet style with beer, wine and soft drinks included.
Our host during this evening is Vattenfall New Energy, the Hamburg based utility.
After three hours the cruise ends at the “Landungsbrücken” jetty which is located in downtown Hamburg. Participants who are still adventurous may stroll along the nearby “Reeperbahn” while the others will return on their own to Harburg via subway (station “Landungsbrücken”, take S3 direction “Harburg Rathaus” or “Neugraben”).
Farewell Party, Friday, May 16, 2008
The Farewell Party will be held in the brewery restaurant “Gröninger” which is located in downtown Hamburg, Willy-Brandt-Street 47.
To get there from the conference site you have to take the subway (S-Bahn S3, direction “Hauptbahnhof”, change at “Hauptbahnhof” into Subway U1, direction “Kellinghusenstraße/Norderstedt” and get off at “Meßberg”.
Depending on the time the buses will probably bring the participants from the Technical Tours directly to the restaurant.
The Farewell Party starts at between 6.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m. Preferably beer but also wine, softdrinks and rustic meals will be served. The cost for this evening is included in the conference fee.
